In 2015, we decided to take a break from our corporate 9–5 jobs, take some time away from our hectic schedule, and plant a few trees to help offset our carbon impact. That was supposed to be a brief respite, but we never returned to the 9-to-5.
We went traveling for a year and planted as many trees as we could afford. But, finances were quickly running short, both for living and for planting. The simple answer was to put on the suits again. Instead, we began working online.
Now, we travel and manage a number of internet enterprises to supplement our income. We follow a few simple guidelines when it comes to work-life balance. We must be able to operate our business from a smartphone and a laptop when traveling and planting. Our earnings are shared. 25% goes to our trip budget, 25% to our day-to-day living expenses, and the remaining 50% goes to our planting fund.
